Community Forum on Identity and the Use of Race on National Forms

The NAACP Eugene-Springfield Branch hosts a forum about racial identification on government forms.

March 1, 2017 | 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. | Eugene Public Library

100 W. Tenth Ave., Eugene OR 97401

Join the NAACP Eugene-Springfield Branch for a free public forum about the proposed National Reconciliation Act, a piece of legislation that longtime local activist John Cougill is lobbying the Democratic Party of Lane County to adopt. At the forum, Cougill will discuss the pros and cons of his proposal advocating to strike the term “race” from all federal and state laws and insert the term “ethnicity” in its place. The forum is an opportunity for the community to consider and dialogue about race and personal identity. This is an Oregon Humanities grant-funded event.

This event is in the Tykson-Bascom room at the Eugene Public Library.
