What do cancer, diabetes, suicide attempts, alcohol and drug use, missed work, depression, and severe obesity have in common? The risk for each of these increases as the number of adverse childhood experiences goes up. The good news is that as a community we can influence—and are influencing—these outcomes for the better.

This week’s What’s Brewing? brings Katie McClure, director of TRACES of Central Oregon, to discuss adverse childhood experiences among our neighborhood children and show us how to identify the first exposures to trauma and toxic stress. Read more.
