Join writer Ursula K. Le Guin and Oregon State University philosophy professor Lani Roberts for an interactive discussion exploring morality and self-deception—including our ideals of morality, how we deceive ourselves individually and collectively, and the concept of moral evolution—at the next Think & Drink, a happy-hour series that sparks provocative conversations about big ideas.
Think & Drink will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at 6:30 at rontoms, 600 E. Burnside, Portland. The bimonthly series is sponsored by the Oregon Council for the Humanities (OCH).

Oregon Humanities Call for Submissions on Theme of "Away"
The magazine will accept proposals and drafts for its fall 2009 issue through June 15, 2009.

Oregon Humanities magazine, the triannual publication of the Oregon Council for the Humanities (OCH), is seeking submissions for the fall 2009 issue on the theme of “Away.” OCH is particularly interested in works that explore the theme in terms of various topics including migration, immigration, displacement, mobility, nationalism, globalism, travel, or tourism.

Oregon Scholars Kick Off First Season of Oregon Humanities' Conversation Project
Sixteen scholars from around the state present seventeen programs, which nonprofits can sign up to sponsor beginning August 1, 2009.

Sixteen Oregon scholars have been chosen for the inaugural 2009-10 season of The Conversation Project: A New Chautauqua, which connects Oregonians with public scholars and provocative ideas through idea-driven dialogue. The Conversation Project is a program of the Oregon Council for the Humanities.
The online catalog will be available this summer, and nonprofit organizations will be able to sign up for programs beginning August 1, 2009, for programs beginning November 1, 2009.
