Oregon Humanities, formerly the Oregon Council for the Humanities, has changed its name, released the first in a series of short films exploring the power of a new idea, and rolled out a new website in the culmination of a two-year-long strategic planning and branding process. Grants Available to Oregon Nonprofit Organizations for Public Humanities Programs
Oregon Humanities opens its 2010 grants cycle.

Nonprofit organizations across Oregon may now apply for Public Program Grants between $1,000 and $5,000 from Oregon Humanities (formerly Oregon Council for the Humanities). Grant guidelines are available for download (oregonhumanities.org) or by request from Development and Program Coordinator Annie Dubinsky at (503) 241-0543, ext. 116.

Senate Approves President Obama's Nomination of James Leach as Chair of National Endowment for the Humanities
The fifteen-term Congressman from Iowa will serve as the next chair of the national agency.

The United States Senate has approved President Obama’s nomination of James Leach, an Iowa Congressman and university professor with a long and distinguished career, as the next chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Oregon Humanities, an independent, nonprofit affiliate of the NEH, joins the NEH and the Federation of State Humanities Councils in celebrating this confirmation.
